Ok so when I heard about this I just HAD to try it! I’m not usually the experimental type, I prefer convenience, just pick up a tub and go kinda girl but I was really curious about this and couldn’t wait to try it!
Here’s what I used:
-
3 eggs (using only the egg yoke)
-
1 tea spoon of honey
-
2 tea spoons of olive oil
And whisked it all up in a cup with my folk until it was of a nice creamy texture, then I was all set to go!
After wetting my hair I applied the egg mixture. For some reason I was still kind of expecting my hair to lather up like it usually would with actual shampoo but it didn’t however I still massaged the egg mixture into my hair as I normally would. Apparently the egg mixture is also suppose to act as a conditioner too so I left it in my hair for a few more minutes before giving my hair a thorough rinse! Usually after I shampoo I always use conditioner (but for this review, I decided not to).
At first it felt funny and sticky when I rinsed it all out but I’m not sure if this was actually the case or just my imagination playing tricks on me but after I towelled dried my hair it was surprisingly clean. Seriously it works! I’m impressed!
I planned to spend the day at home so after applying some TRESemme 24 Hour Body amplififying mousse I allowed my hair to air dry naturally. And the next day I was still very happy with how my hair felt!
Would I use my homemade egg shampoo again..?
Yes probably! It wouldn’t be a regular part of my routine but yes I would!! And I’d try it with slightly different or more ingredients next time (as I did come across a few online).
So there you go! Homemade egg shampoo.. Will you be giving it a try….?
